Saturn in Sagittarius: December 23, 2014-December 19, 2017
On December 23rd of 2014, Saturn, the planet of karma, time, lessons, sobriety, discipline and responsibility, will set foot in the sign of Sagittarius. Saturn remains in a sign for approximately two and a half years. Owing to its retrograde motion, he will set foot back in Scorpio from mid June through mid September of 2015 before continuing his journey through this sign. Saturn leaves Sagittarius in December 2017 and won’t return until February 2044. Mark your calendars!
Between now and mid June, Saturn will occupy the first four degrees of Sagittarius. So, if you were born between approximately the 20th and the 26th of the month, you may be more likely to experience the impact of this time frame. Similarly, if you have planets in the first four degrees of a sign, they too, will be impacted.
There is a distinct contrast between Saturn and this sign of the archer. Whereas Saturn is a planet that teaches us to be cautious, responsible and mature, it is occupying a sign which could care less about boundaries and limitations. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of growth, expansion and limitlessness.
We will therefore be learning lessons associated with the nature of excess. How big is too big? How far is too far before we can no longer carry the weight? Sagittarius also has to do with our sense of morality, the theoretical and philosophical concepts by which we live. To some extent it has to do with our religious beliefs. All these may be tested. And since Saturn also represents government and big business, the role of those in relationship to our religious beliefs may become a larger issue in the years to come.
It’s time to hone your knowledge base. You may have a strong background in a particular area, but feel that a bit more study might do you some good. Similarly, if you’ve become an expert in your field, this is a great window in which to demonstrate your cumulative knowledge and skills. Focus on long term relationships that may have emanated from a considerable distance. Self-discipline may come easier than you anticipate.
You’ve gained a good bit of wisdom over the years and it’s time to mull over that knowledge and let it sink in to your subconscious mind. Merge that knowledge with the resources others provide for you. This is a time of taking calculated risks and stretching your reach a bit farther than what might initially feel comfortable. Share your insights as you read between the lines of what is shared with you.
Saturn in this sign is opposing that of your own, which may give you the feeling of two steps forward and one step backwards, especially when it comes to personal relationships. You may feel atypically guarded and cautious and perhaps with good reason. This is a good time to be a bit business-like in your approach to others. Don’t hesitate to require others to prove themselves to you. Make them jump through a hoop or two as a test. This is not a matter of playing games, but rather observing true colors.
As Saturn traverses your solar sixth house during this cycle, you’ll find it a prudent move to take your health seriously. This is not a time for shortcuts. Far from it. Be as deliberate and goal oriented as you can be. Take your time as you put one foot in front of the other and appreciate the value of being prudent and long term in your focus. Work requires more focus and concentration.
You’re in a good position for honing your creative skills. Something that may have been defined as a hobby in times past can now be something that can materialize into a long term goal, providing you apply the appropriate discipline. Listen to the wisdom of others. Cash in on their experiences, thereby learning from their successes as well as their failures and consequently appreciating how not to beat your head up against the proverbial brick wall.
Your home is becoming more functional and that’s a good thing. It is serving a highly practical purpose and for that reason it’s time it reflects this mindset. But this doesn’t mean that it looses its sense of fun. On the contrary, you can have a lot of fun creating just the right atmosphere with the perfect balance. Family may require you to handle extra responsibilities in the months ahead. Bring a sense of humor along.
As Saturn traverses your solar third house, you’re in a good position to hone your communication and information gathering skills. Are you ready to brush up on your writing skills or master another language? This can be a foreign language or even one that is native to your roots. Perhaps there are some technological areas that can be studied. You’re ready to become more of an expert and these processes will help you toward that end.
This may be a time of mandatory belt-tightening, due to Saturn in your solar second house of finances. If you’re smart, you’ll be planning for the long term and acting accordingly, so buying that Leer Jet may have to wait. However, if you’ve been prudent in the years past, this can be a great time to reap the rewards of your extensive knowledge base. So don’t sell yourself short. Your experience is worth paying for.
With Saturn in your sign, you may find that you’re taking life a bit more seriously. Responsibilities must be shouldered with a sense of sobriety. If you’re looking for short-cuts, you may want to rethink this strategy, as this could backfire on you. The good news is that you’re sporting a sense of authority and experience, and will likely find others looking up to you for your track record.
You’re in a great position to come to terms with your greatest strengths and honestly face the issues that may have tripped you up in times past. Whether you realize it or not, your guardian angels are now prepared to work overtime to help you weed out extraneous distractions, so you can focus on what’s really important. Your agenda can be comfortably accomplished with one hand tied behind your back, with little need for applause. Offer up your wisdom and experience to those who may not otherwise be exposed to your insights.
You may be feeling a sense of responsibility toward your community and your fellow human beings. If you’re seeing your friends and social contacts in a bit of a different light, it’s no accident. Don’t hesitate to whittle down your connections to those with whom you feel you have a serious and lasting relationship. Look for the wisdom and experience in others and nurture those contacts. Let the superficial folks go about their own business.
Those in your professional arena can’t help but respect and appreciate your breadth of knowledge and your wisdom. So market yourself accordingly. If you’re a bit of a newbie, this will be a time to prove yourself to the powers that be. There’s no such thing as a short-cut right now, so be willing to go the extra mile to make that all-important impression. Look for the long term gains for the time being.
