The Sevenfold Reasoning is a Buddhist meditation on the ultimate nature of things – persons (the “I”) and phenomena. In the traditions of Buddhism that utilize the Sevenfold Reasoning (such as the Dalai Lama's sect, the Gelukba Madhyamikas), the ultimate nature of things is said to be emptiness. The Sevenfold Reasoning is based on the teachings of Chandrakirti, an 8th-century Indian Buddhist teacher.

| Passionate Accountability |

The term "accountability" sounds off-putting. We're used to thinking of it as another word for liability. "You'll be held accountable for this!" However, it isn't so. Accountability is a wonderful thing to have.
How does accountablilty contribute to a passionate life? Imagine this: you walk into a bank and say, "I want to open a savings account." The teller says, "oh, we don't have accounts here. We just toss everything into the vault." Ridiculous! Clearly this wouldn't work. How could you gain interest when no one knew what part of the vault's contents were yours? How would people know whether they were running low on funds, individually or collectively?

If we're going to use the word soul in a business context, we'd better define it, we'd better understand it's meaning clearly. Otherwise, this single word--so often thought of as abstract, esoteric, and impractical--will probably create much confusion, doubt, and maybe even cynicism. Let me tell you what I mean by soul, and how I think it relates to our work lives in very practical and useful ways.
