Since this prehistoric start, nearly every culture has at some time in it's history utilized masks in ritual form. In primal religious ceremony, they evoke the gods and spirits. In theatre, they convey a symbolic imagery unavailable through other methods. In revelry, they bestow upon the wearer the permission to release some hidden facet of their personality.

The spirits of nature may be specific to an element, a place or even a person ... I believe that we clothe those spirits according to our own preconceptions. Should they become manifest, they would appear different to each observer, but they surround us and affect us without our knowledge. Call them faeries, goddesses, gods or spirits; they live on in the wild places, but they also live in our hearts and minds. If they should fade from our world completely, we would be doomed, they represent the ancient spiritual force of nature. The paintings I create are merely my own interpretations.
