Your mind wanders as you are sitting at your desk, thoughts drifting
away from the unappealing pile of paperwork that looms in your face. You
can't help but feel how wonderful it would be if only you could be home
painting on your works of art, or go back to school to study for that
career you've always wanted, or . . . You've probably had these drifting
thoughts before. Many, many times.
But your logical part of you wants to be "realistic" and maintain
what looks like financial security for yourself and your family. So you
continue to plod along, dealing with compounding stress, thinking
there's no other alternative for now but to keep up the same existence
for who knows how long, sacrificing a more meaningful lifestyle for
apparent stability.
"Cherish your visions and your dreams as they are the children of your
soul; the blue prints of your ultimate accomplishments." - Napoleon Hill
These persistent inner promptings are coming from somewhere and are
trying to tell you something. They are the whispers of your soul, the
part of you that knows what you are capable of, giving you a glimpse of
your highest potential and leading the way for more profound and
purposeful expressions of yourself. And you can make it work for you,
perhaps in ways you haven't even thought of yet. Don't know where to
start? Give this method a try, which has been effective for me:
Begin by writing a list of your sincere goals you wish to attain. Keep
this list short so you can put more energy into fewer goals. State
everything in present tense, such as: "I now have the perfect job for
myself working as a graphic artist." (I feel you can either manifest the
essence or quality of what you desire, or an actual object. For
instance, you can invoke the essence of having financial freedom, or you
can manifest a specific amount of money; I have found both to be
effective.
With drawing to yourself the essence of your desires, however, you
let go of some of the control over the final outcome to the Universal
Mind which works within a vast matrix of intelligent consciousness to
bring into reality your firm intentions.)
At the bottom of the list add the statement that you wish for this or
something even better than what you have imagined. Sometimes when
describing your desired situation there are unforeseen circumstances
that may not be exactly what you wanted to begin with. I like to add my
signature to my list which gives me the feeling of an actual contract
being made together with my higher power. Read this list out loud
several times a day, perhaps even sitting very quietly, becoming very
relaxed to quiet the logical mind.
Envision the scenes you are creating. Add the desired emotions
associated with the visions, along with the confidence that no matter
what, you are definitely creating with your unlimited mind power. After
you are done reading the list, keep yourself from thinking about it
until the next time you read it. I mention this so that immediately
afterward your logical mind doesn't start wondering "how?" or "when?"
Begin to watch for signs that will lead you into action--those necessary
steps you need to take toward your goal.
The Universe is not going to hand you your wishes on a silver plate
(well, not usually, as far as I have seen!). Ultimately it is up to you
to follow the road signs that will lead you to your objectives you set
for yourself. How can you tell the difference between passing fancy and
a potential life goal? Ask yourself if your visions encourage you to
better serve yourself and those around you and your community. You will
find those desires that apply to the greater good of yourself as well as
society will definitely be supported by the higher power.
"Dreams come true; without that possibility, nature would not incite us
to have them." Henry David Thoreau
If at this point you're not sure what direction to take in life but
still feel those inner promptings to do something more significant,
sometimes the answer appears when you ask yourself what you would want
to accomplish in your life if you had a billion dollars and didn't need
to worry about finances. After contemplating this question, brainstorm a
list of creative expressions of yourself and you may be surprised. What
if you feel you're already doing your life's work but continue to
struggle financially? This is when you need to seriously explore the
structure of your belief system perpetuating your "survival" mode.
Looking at "Deservability" and "Influencing Prosperity and Abundance"
may give you a good start on this matter. If you enjoy reading, I have a
recommended reading list of my favorite and most useful books, some of
which cover this subject. Don't feel disheartened if you seem to feel
you are going nowhere in your present occupation. I know people who
spent most of their lives in what they felt to be one meaningless job
after another.
But on deeper retrospect, there were purposeful qualities they
gleaned from their circumstances and relationships which greatly
assisted them in achieving their ultimate calling. Maybe you're in this
situation right now--what deeper underlying issues do you need to look
at or qualities that you must develop in order to move onward to more
satisfying circumstances? Oftentimes getting clear on the higher purpose
in your experiences serves as a catalyst for imminent transformation.

nightmares because of my dreams." - Unknown
