This site provides a haven for Near Death Experiencers who wish to share their knowledge with the general public. Here you read about the reality of NDEs from those who have first-hand experience. They describe their feelings, what they discovered, and offer inspirational, self-help information regarding choices for thoughtful living. There are over 200 experiences posted. The "FAQ" section answers the common questions, while the message board is available for asking the uncommon ones.

NDE - Near-Death Experiences and the Afterlife   

Over the years, an increase in the public interest in near-death experiences (NDEs) has helped make this website the number one ranked website on the subject. It is my goal is to transform this website into the "Grand Central Station of Near-Death Experiences." My mission is to help connect people with information and resources about NDEs and NDE research for the purpose of understanding death and thereby understanding life in a way that brings tremendous joy and love.

NDE - Understanding Near-Death and Similar Experiences   

IANDS mission is to respond to needs for information and support concerning near-death and similar experiences. IANDS maintains no party line on the interpretation of near-death or similar experiences and is open to the presentation of varying responsible points of view. The Association is committed to scholarly investigation of the NDE and to providing accurate information based on those findings. IANDS publishes two quarterly periodicals, the scholarly Journal of Near-Death Studies and the newsletter Vital Signs, in addition to other informational materials. It sponsors a national conference in North America annually and other conferences occasionally.

NDEs in Melanesia   

Near-Death and Out-of-Body Experiences in a Melanesian Society. Reports of adventures in which people leave their bodies or die, journey to the world of the dead and then return are found in many cultures. In Western culture these stories date back to antiquity with accounts of the exploits of mythic heroes and heroines such as Gilgamesh, Orpheus, and Persephone (see Zaleski 1987:11-25). Accounts of return from death were emphasized during the evangelical and spiritualist movements in the eighteenth century, and have been the subject of medical and scientific research following the publication in 1975 of Raymond Moody's book, Life After Life.

Out of body experiences (OBEs) are those curious, and usually brief experiences in which a person's consciousness seems to depart from his or her body, enabling observation of the world from a point of view other than that of the physical body and by means other than those of the physical senses.
