The Association of Gay and Lesbian Psychiatrists (AGLP)
The Association of Gay and Lesbian Psychiatrists (AGLP) is a professional organization of psychiatrists, psychiatry residents, and medical students which serves as a voice for the concerns of lesbians and gay men within the psychiatric community. The Association is committed to fostering a more accurate understanding of homosexuality, opposing discriminarory practices against gay men and lesbians, and promoting supportive, well-informed psychiatric care for lesbian and gay patients. The organization provides opportunities for affiliation and collaboration among psychiatrists who share these concerns.
Ethics in Mental Health - Anti-Stigmatization & Non-Discrimination Campaigns
The Ethics in Mental Health educational resource is a collaborative campaign with mental health agencies, commissions, and other foundations to reduce mental health stigmatization and discrimination. A commissioned report by Director Shaheen Lakhan and reported by researcher and faculty member Christine Loftus entitled Mental Health Stigmatization: A Report of the Neuroscience Initiative reveals the evolving nature of societal conceptions of mental health and mental illness. The Department of Psychiatry offers assessment and treatment programs that encompass the full range of psychological, social, and biological approaches to the understanding and care of people with disorders of mood, emotion, cognition, perception, memory, intellect, and behavior. The Adult Psychiatry Section provides inpatient, day hospital, and outpatient services to individuals suffering from a wide range of psychiatric disorders. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Section provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment services through its outpatient and inpatient programs. The outpatient program includes a large, multidisciplinary clinic at the University of Chicago Hospitals main campus, as well as satellite clinics in the Chicago area. Child and adolescent inpatient services are provided in several different settings, designed to meet the specific needs of the child and family.

Association of European Psychiatrists: 12th AEP Congress - Geneva, Switzerland, 14 - 18 April 2004 - Issues related to patient care will be emphasised in the scientific programme of the Congress. The programme will favour meetings of psychiatrists with different backgrounds and orientations and aim at developing a feeling of identity of European psychiatry. The Congress will also continue to serve the educational mission of AEP. This aim will be pursued in a variety of courses, educational workshops, lectures and symposia. The congress will give CME credits to certify that the participants have taken part in accredited education activities. Attending these future meetings in Geneva will also provide an opportunity to discover, or rediscover, a city of unique charm with a rich cultural and humanitarian tradition. Geneva has also been very active in defending human rights, leading to the foundation of the Red Cross by Henri Dunant more than 120 years ago. It is the home of numerous international organisations, including the World Health Organisation and Office of the United Nations' High Commissioner for Refugees.
